Green Granite Inn, a North Conway Hotel New England Offers the Best Skiing in the Country

Category: North Conway Activities

skiing North ConwayEvery time you turn on the news it seems more snow is falling in New England. Back to back snow storms have impacted the area in recent weeks, leaving feet of white in its wake. With record snowfall for the season, skiing and snowboarding conditions are at their prime.

While the ski resorts in the West are experiencing warmer temperatures and less snowfall than average, the big flakes continue to fall over the northeast. The east is on track to have one of the snowiest winters on record. This record breaking weather has brought something most New England skiers are not accustomed to seeing, powder. The snow on the east coast is wetter and doesn’t usually accumulate as much as the light powder snow of the Rockies. Usually by early March the slopes are covered with slushy, icy snow not the packed powder variety currently covering the White Mountains.

More skiers than ever are flocking to the North Conway area to enjoy the winter wonderland. Even popular outdoor website, Teton Gravity Research, is using the headline, “The East Coast is the Best Place to Ski Right Now”. Though, New England doesn’t produce high altitude slopes of Jackson Hole or Vail, the sheer amount of densely packed powder and continual snowfall make the area a skier’s paradise. Most ski resorts in the area are operating at or near full capacity, with the majority of trails and lifts open.

Cancel your trip to the Rockies, there’s plenty of winding, tree lined trails and powder in your own White Mountains.

Green Granite Inn is located near 9 ski areas in Townsend TN.  Call (800) 468-3666 to make your reservation.
